One year behind the big green door

After her first 12 months in the job, our Client Services Assistant Claire Entwistle blows the whistle on life at Redwing.

I've just ticked past my first year at Redwing and it's been hugely enjoyable and also a massive learning curve because of my background and the nature of the job.

The 12 months have gone by so quickly, probably because it's busy, the team is great, the location is fantastic in the centre of town and we even have whippets in the office!

To be honest, I didn’t have much experience in web development or design. Before working here, I finished a Masters in Sociology at the University of Bristol and was in a managerial role in a pub in Clifton, so not really related. But looking around the office, I think Redwing look at the person first and then the skills. Adrian, our MD, seemed to know somehow that I would fit in, and I did.

Client Focus

I think the fact that my role here is more client-facing than technical helped me to adapt pretty quickly. In terms of my day to day role, I mostly help Rosie Rogers, our senior project manager, keeping track of all the projects that are coming in, ongoing or being finished. I also provide support assistance to our clients and deal with most of the enhancement requests and queries that come in about their digital platforms.

Resirva: an online enrolment revolution

I would say that most of my time this year has been taken up with Resirva, Redwing's proprietary summer and language school enrolment platform. We've just launched a new website for Resirva and it's been busy. I’ve also enjoyed attending conferences and meeting clients face-to-face, taking on more responsibility with marketing Resirva, which has been really enjoyable.

Other than that, I make an excellent cup of tea and organise a pretty good Friday night social. I'm looking forward to what year two will bring.
